The types of blooms you see around you indicate what season you’re in. We know that spring is in the air by the smell of daffodils and freesias. Bulbous flowers planted in the fall bloom in the spring to beautify your garden with their vibrant colors. We are not all lucky to have gardens especially if you live in the high rises and sky scrapers of the UAE. This is why at Exotica we like to spread the joys of this season by creating beautiful spring inspired bouquets and arrangements using these bulbous beauties..

A definitely hot and very happening topic on the Abu Dhabi agenda is the opening of Terminal 3 at Abu Dhabi International Airport. Exotica took on the privileged project of interior landscaping the premise. Our team of engineers and specialists did a great job transforming and enlivening the space. For those of you with little time and lots of love, we have chosen three items below we have deemed most popular among the rest.

Want to offer your Mother something besides a bouquet or arrangement? Why not try a hydrangea plant! This flowering plant with big blossomy heads of flower clusters is available in many beautiful colors and flourishes most in this time of the year. It’s a beautiful plant so long as it’s being loved, cared for and nourished; something a Mother does so well. A hydrangea loves water and leaving it thirsty can damage it in little time. The amount of water it should receive depends on how big the pot is and how many flowering heads it carries. For a potted plant, place it in an area where it will receive ample light.

With many ladies receiving plants or flowers this season, we have a few green tips for you to prolong the life of your bouquet and to have healthier looking houseplants.

• Wipe the leaves of your plant with the back of a banana peel. This gives the same shine as a leaf shiner without the toxic elements.
• Use salt to scrub your vases before putting your flowers in them to get that glossy look.
• With bulbous blooms in season, pierce the bottom of your tulips and hyacinths flowers with a pin to maximize water absorption. An ice cube in the vase also allows for a longer life of the flowers.
