Although it’s no longer hot, there are still plenty of happenings. The month of December brings us Christmas, but to the UAE it brings an even bigger reason to celebrate with Emirates National Day on the 2nd. This year commemorates 38 years since the establishment of the UAE. Enjoy this day and the entire month following it by driving along the country’s major boulevards and taking in the sights and lights. In a time of giving, we may want to consider giving back to our planet by saving a few trees and following these simple eco-friendly holiday tips:

• Although nothing beats the sight and smell of a fresh pine tree decorated with sparkly ornaments, it is still a tree that has been cut down and turned to trash after the holidays. Make your homes festive without baring the forests and invest in an artificial Christmas tree that you purchase once and use for years on end.
• Replace aerosol and electric air fresheners and soak up the holiday scents by boiling up some natural earthy elements such as ginger spice and cinnamon sticks.
• No tree is complete without its twinkle lights, but considering that during the holiday period, electricity usage amounts to billions of kilowatts stemming from twinkle lights and decoration. Save some energy by turning off your tree lights at night and when out of the home.
